Master Tour of Chiang Mai’s first stage will let you explore the East. After a rolling start of 21 km to Plewthip Bakery the restart will take place for each peloton. For the MTCM 12Th Edition, we will have 3 pelotons: Open A & B and 30-39 being the first, then a peloton consisting of the mens’ age groups 40-49 and 50-59 in peloton 2, 50-59 years, while the final group will be Women’s Open and 35+ together with the Male Masters 60+ . - Shortly after KOM, turn left @ km 29.5
- Merge left into Highway 118, dir. Chiang Mai @ km 43
- U-turn underpass @ km 43.3 then follow Highway 118, dir. Chiang Rai
- U-turn underpass @ km 53 then follow Highway 118, dir. Chiang Mai
- Flat sprint finish on the highway @ km 71, next to Doi Saket Police Station
- Sign in at 700th
Anniversary of Chiang Mai Stadium at 6:00 am, Start rolling to restart at 7:00 am.
- Take part in the rolling is compulsory.
- Trophy ceremony to take place approximately 30 min after race ends at finish line
- Finish line back to the hotel is a 25 km ride. Feel free to take motorized transport.
- If you booked “Race Fee incl. transfers” we will provide the transfer from the finish line back to the hotel for you and your bike.

Stage 2 – Top of Samoeng
(Saturday, October 19, 2024)
74.3 | 91.9 km – 680 | 1.340 m vertical
Once again, the climbing stage of this year’s Masters Tour of Chiang Mai will end at the top of the “switchbacks” on Samoeng Road. Rolling start will be per peloton at SHELL Rajaphruek gas station (49 หมู่ 12 ต Nong Kwai, Hang Dong District, Chiang Mai 50230). After a short neutralized ride of approx. 3 km – just to get past Samoeng underpass – the race will be opened by flag down. All distances are given INCLUDING the rolling kms.
- Start per peloton in intervals to be determined at SHELL Rajaphruek gas station on Canal Road:
- Rolling neutralized on Canal Road southbound
- Restart for each peloton via flag down approx at km 3 shortly after Samoeng underpass
- Follow Canal Road
- Merge onto the newly built highway at km 16.5
- U-turn at km 29.5
- Back on the highway and on Canal Road
- New: Intermediate Sprint (IS) at km 46 at the second pedestrian bridge
- New: Turn left at km 53.5 to Ban Wiang Dong
- Km 58 keep left and merge to Samoeng Road
- Several consecutive shorter climbs on Samoeng Road
- KOM at km 71.3
- After KOM the road keeps climbing for another 3 km and 200 m vertical
- Finish line at km 74.3 on top of the Samoeng switchbacks
- Open A & B as well as 30-39 will go on after that as follows:
- descend switchbacks (2.8 km @ ramps of partly 16%, please be careful!)
- climb 5 km, 420 m vertical, on the other side to Samoeng pass
- U-turn
- descend previously climbed 5 km
- climb previously descended switchbacks (2.8 km, 290 m)
- finish on top of switchbacks at km 91.0

- Trophy ceremony will take place after the end of the stage at the “Thachang Hill Café”, about 1 km back down from the KOM, or 4 km down from the finish line

Stage 3 – Circuit Race @ CMRU Campus, revised

The Chiang Mai Rajabhat University campus North of Mae Rim offers an amazing completely traffic-free circuit of almost 5 km that has got a bit of everything: several climbs including a short steep one, some corners that require riding skill as well as one fast downhill. This year, we had to modify the course again, due to some ongoing University graduation celebrations. You will love our new course, it has been an optimization so-to-say. There are some brandnew roads included which make the loop even more challenging and exiting.
- Start | finish location: Chiang Mai Rajabaht University, Mae Rim campus
- 6, 8 or 10 laps of 4.8 kms respectively and 80 m vertical climb each. A total of 320 | 480 | 640 m vertical climb
- Challenging circuit with climbs, downhills and corners
- Starting times are:
- 08:00 AM – 50-59 | 8 laps | KOM lap 4 & Women Open & 35+ & Masters 60+ | 6 laps | KOM lap 3
- 09:00 AM – Open A | 10 laps | KOM lap 5
- 10:30 AM – 30-39 & 40-49 | 8 laps | KOM lap 4
- 12:00 AM – Open B | 8 laps | KOM lap 4
- KOM will be at the end of the lap at half race distance (end of lap 3, 4 or 5 respectively)
- Trophy ceremony to take place at finish line approximately 20 min after each category’s race ends
- Rolling is NOT compulsory – feel free to commute there by car or van

Stage 4 – ITT To Doi Suthep
(Monday, October 21, 2024)
10.80 km – 630 m vertical
This climb’s fame has spread far and wide: the 10.80 km and 720 m vertical ascent from Chiang Mai up to Doi Suthep, the city’s famous and revered Golden Buddhist Pagoda, has become a cycling classic. For many years it has been the final challenge of our multi-day stage race, fit to dispel doubts of who will be crowned Masters Tour of Chiang Mai champion.
- Start at Chiang Mai Zoo
- Give what you’ve got for almost 10.80 km
- Start lists will be available by 3 pm on Sunday, October 20, 2024 (TBC)
- Trophy ceremony will take place right next to the finish line.
- Race including trophy ceremony end by 12 pm latest, usually as early as 10:30 am, so plenty of time to get a shower and catch a mid-afternoon flight, if you have to leave so soon.
